Lenten Centering Prayer

March 9th, 2011

Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer. Rather, it adds depth of meaning to all prayer and facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer into a receptive prayer of resting in God. Centering Prayer emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God and as a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with him.

Wednesday Night Live – Wednesday, September 7 and 22

August 27th, 2010

Wednesday Night Live

In the fall thru part of the winter, we will be discussing the book “Einstein’s God : Conversations about Science and the Human Spirit” by Krista Tibbet (she hosts the “Speaking of Faith” program that you may have heard on NPR).  We plan to cover one chapter each session, with some sessions having a guest speaker with expertise on the subject.  Copies of the book have been ordered and will be available in the church office for $11 each (starting around 1 Sept).
It’s a gathering of folks willing to ask the hard questions of faith, to explore beliefs and express doubts. We question and explore!
We believe our faith may be 2000 years old
but our thinking is not!

Supper at 6:15 p.m.  Program at 7:00 p.m.  Upstairs in Social Hall
