Worship

Worship is the heart of our life as a church. We enjoy sermons and scripture lessons that introduce and explore ideas rather than structuring our beliefs in rigid paths.

We gather to give thanks, to celebrate, to meditate, to pray, to confess and to hear the word of God.

We seek a worship experience that speaks to both our heads and our hearts – that “makes you think” but is also relevant to the issues we face everyday. We often explore new, even controversial ideas within a traditional faith in God and Jesus Christ. Our congregation is comfortable with traditional services led by the minister as well as with innovative services where everyone participates. Children are welcome at any time during our services and about every 6-8 weeks we have a “Family Worship Service” where children are the leaders of the entire service.

We are comfortable with inclusive language and women and men share leadership roles equally. We feel the Spirit working among us and are sent to “go forth” and be the eyes, hands, heart and spirit of God in the larger community.
