Weddings/Unions

What is marriage in the eyes of the church? It is a covenanted commitment that has its foundation in the faithfulness of God’s love. The marriage ceremony is the joyous occasion on which two people unite in the mutual exchange of covenant promises. The minister gives the church’s blessing and the congregation offers support and thanksgiving for the new family.

As an Open and Affirming (ONA) congregation, First Congregational Church recognizes the value of covenant commitments among both same and differently gendered couples. Couples can work with our pastors to design a service that fits them – whether it is a “wedding” a “covenant blessing” or a “union ceremony.”

Booking a wedding date – Couples who wish to be married at First Congregational Church may call the church office for more information and an introductory wedding packet. Non-members may be married at the church at the discretion of the ministers. To finalize the date and time the couple must sign a Wedding Agreement that lays out the guidelines and fees for building use and staff.

Wedding Coordinator – First Congregational Church provides a Wedding Coordinator who oversees the arrangements and details of the wedding service. She facilitates all contacts with the church, helping during the wedding rehearsal and providing important assistance the day of the wedding.
